Whitebred Shorthorn Spring Sale 2026
Blackburn Acer A standout performance in a strong bull class of eight entries saw Blackburn Acer rise to the top. Sired by Barlaes Trainer and out of the homebred Blackburn Tara. He didn’t stop there — he went on to claim Supreme Champion and set a new breed record, selling for an impressive 9000gns. This bull went to the McTurk brothers who have a half share each in him. A big congratulations to Gordon Jackson of Tofthome, and sincere thanks to John Edward Atkinson for his expert judging.
Not forgetting Lot No. 1, Bloch Romeo, who momentarily broke the breed record. He was bred by I. Bell & Son, Langholm, sired by Springview George William and out of their homebred Bloch Iona R, he was bought by JRF Pattinson & Son for 8,500gns.
Another fantastic result came from Glentyne Libby, winner of Class Two and later crowned Reserve Champion. She went on to sell for 4000gns, marking a tremendous achievement for MG & J Taylor of Low Arvie. She is sired by Glentyne Grafter and out of
Glentyne Lucinda 3rd. She and the next two heifers from Glentyne went to a new breeder Ormside Hall, Appleby in Westmoreland.
