What a sale! After the success of the Blue Grey sale there was a lot of interest in the breed, the aisles where busy with members and new potential buyers enjoying the excellent display of animals. It was quite something to go to the ring to my usual filming spot to see it so full and feel a real buzz about.

Many thanks to Fiona for judging, the results are as follows

Class one: Bull

1st place Hottbank Gold

2nd place Parton Icon

3rd place Netherby Duke

 

Class two: In Calf heifers

1st place Glentyne Mary

2nd place Boo Mary

3rd place Boo Gail

4th place Boo Gina

 

Class three

1st place Glentyne Cindy

 

Hottbank Gold took the top spot of Champion Male and Supreme champion, sired by Ottercops Ptolomy out of a homebred dam Hottbank Lucy 28th (dam of the 2024 Autumn sale topper Hottbank Usyk – 5000gns) bred and brought out by JRF Pattinson and son sold for 8000gns, a new breed record.  He will go to Messers Gibson, Sedburgh.

 

Netherby Duke sold for a very good price of 3800gns, a younger bull sired by Longley Highlight out of Ottercops Snowdrop 6th bred and brought out by Netherby Hall Ltd goes to a buyer in Scotland.

 

In calf heifer Glentyne Mary, Champion female, a lovely quiet homebred heifer from M&J Taylor Low Arvie by Glentyne Grafter out of Blackburn Britney and in calf to Burnedge James sold for 3400gns.

 

Boo Flora was next, bred and brought out by Mr JB&A McAllister, Newton Stewart who has run with the bull Blackburn Gruffalo sold for 1600gns, with Boo Gail making the same and Boo Gina 1650gns.  These heifers going to new buyers and existing members.

 

Glentyne Cindy, the 1st prize maiden heifer from M&J Taylor made 2300gns, both Cindy and Mary going to a new telephone bidder from Wales.

 

Next came the dispersal sale from well known breeder Mr R Telford, Holmehead with the Hole of Lyne herd.

Hole of Lyne Alex, a homebred bull by Hole of Lyne Joe and out of Hole of Lyne Laura sold for 3400gns.

Hole of Lyne Nigel sold for 1600gns. Hole of Lyne Fiona a 4year old homebred cow with a heifer calf at foot sold for 2800gns.

Hole of Lyne Maggie, a 5year old cow by Blackburn Adam with her heifer calf at foot sold for 2700gns.

Hole of Lyne Laura, a 5 year old cow by Blackburn Adam with a bull calf at foot sold for 3800gns and goes to join the Hottbank herd on the Roman Wall.

Hole of Lyne Shona 5th a 12 year old cow by Blackburn Bingo with a heifer calf at foot sold for 2600gns.

Next were the senior heifers with Hole of Lyne Hannah making 2200gns and Hole of Lyne Sarah making 2900gns.
