Whitebred Shorthorn Autumn Sale 2016

The Annual Autumn show and sale of Whitebred Shorthorn cattle on Friday 4th November 2016 saw a top price of 3800gns achieved by Keith Laurie for the heifer Corrie Ruby 14th. Having won her class and gone on to take the Female Championship at the pre-sale show she was well bid for in the ring and eventually knocked down to LR Hamer & Son, Rishworth Hall Farm, West Yorkshire.

Topping the bull trade at 2,800gns was Gordon Jacksonís Blackburn Jock. Sired by Barlaes Welcome, he had also been a class winner earlier in the day, heading the Junior bull class and going on to be Reserve Male and Reserve Supreme Champion. He was purchased by Andrew Tullie Farming, Whitchesters Farm, Hawick.

The winner of the Senior bull class, Male and Supreme Champion, Parton General, from Messrs Hewson, Parton Farm, Wigton was the next best price at 1,800gns. General is by Parton Bonus and bred from the herdís Suzanna family and he is off to join JB & A McAllisterís herd based near Newton Stewart.

The Reserve Female Champion, Hole of Lyne Twinkle 3rd sold for 1,500gns. From R Telford based near Roadhead, Carlisle Twinkle was sired by Hole of Lyne Joe and out of the Glendearg Tom daughter Milnholm Twinkle 2nd. She was knocked down to MG & J Taylor, Dippenhead Farm, Isle of Arran.
