Whitebred Shorthorn Sale

The autumn show and sale of Whitebred Shorthorn cattle on Friday 6th November 2015 sold to a top price of 3200gns. There was 100% clearance with all lots keenly sought after.

Top price of 3,200gns was achieved by G Jackson, Blackburn, Newcastleton for his homebred heifer, Blackburn Milkshake, a March 2014 born heifer by Hottbank Crackshot and out of Blackburn Milkyway. She was awarded the Female Championship rosette along with the Overall Supreme Championship prize and was purchased by MG & J Taylor, Dippenhead Farm, Largiemeanoch, Isle of Arran.

Leading the bull classes was the male & reserve overall champion Bloch James, bred and exhibited by G Bell & Co, The Bloch, Langholm. James is an August 2013 born son by Park William and out of Bloch Millie 4th. He was keenly bid to 2,900gns and knocked down to J Clark, Bent Ash Farm, Eaglesfield, Cockermouth.

Adrian Wheelwright, Sunnyside Farm, Kinross sold two in-calf heifers for 2,000gns apiece to Messrs Hodgson, High Borrans, Windermere. Longley Beauty 51st stood 3rd in her class and Longley Carmen stood 2nd in her class are both March 2013 born daughters by Blackburn Hill Billy.

Also on 2,000gns, was High Creoch Twinkle, a May 2014 born maiden heifer by Bloch Esk. She was bred and exhibited by G & K Gilligan, High Creoch, Castle Douglas. The successful bid came from SJ & M Richardson & Son, High Row, Lupton, Carnforth.

Averages: 3 Bulls 1767.50, 5 Females 2247.00.
