Whitebred Shorthorn Sale

On Friday 4th November 2011, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted the autumn sale of Whitebred Shorthorn Cattle on behalf of members of the Whitebred Shorthorn Association with 5 bulls and 2 females forward for sale.

The judge, Donald Hendry, Kippen, Stirling awarded the Championship to Blackburn Boss, an April 2010 bull, bred and exhibited by Gordon Jackson, Blackburn, Newcastleton. Sired by Lochdochart Nemo out of a homebred dam Boss was knocked down at 2,300gns. and travels to Cornwall with Mr Cornelius, West Rose, St Breward.

The Reserve Champion Rosette was collected by Barlaes Ironman, also an April 2010 bull sired by Barlaes Welcome, from Messrs Fergusson, Barlaes, Dalry. Ironman failed to reach his reserve and left the ring unsold.

3rd prize Bull Bloch Ewan, born September 2009 bred and exhibited by G Bell & Co., Bloch, Langholm found a new home in North Yorkshire, writing a cheque for 1500gns was Messrs Wilson & Co. Bellbank, Threshfield, Skipton.

Corrie Ranger, an October 2009 bull sired by Corrie Reiver, from Keith Laurie, Snowdon Close, Gilsland was sold at 1200gns to Messrs Kennedy, Barron House, Gilsland.

The Champion female was High Creoch Rose 9th, a June 2010 heifer sired by Blackbnurn Joe, bred and exhibited by G & K Gilligan, High Creoch, Gatehouse of Fleet. She was knocked down at 1400gns to Messrs Richardson, Kirkby Lonsdale.

Hole of Lyne Holly, an in-calf September 2006 cow was sold by J & G Hunt, Ellerton Croft, Southwaite to Mr Barker, Old Irvine, Canonbie for 900gns.
