On Friday 7th November 2008, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted the autumn sale of Whitebred Shorthorn Cattle on behalf of members of the Whitebred Shorthorn Association with a small select entry of 4 Bulls and 1 Female.

Parton Top Hat

The judge, Andrew Hogg, Milnholm, Langholm, awarded the Championship to Parton Top Hat, a June 2006 bull bred and exhibited by Messrs Hewson, Burgh Head Farm, Burgh By Sands, Carlisle. Sired by Hottbank Mariner, this bull went on to secure a bid of 1,600gns and was purchased by Messrs RA & JP Cornelius, West Rose, St Breward, Bodmin.

The Reserve Champion Rosette was collected by Bloch Barra, an August 2006 bull from Messrs Bell, Bloch, Langholm. Sired by Murtholm Parky, this bull failed to reach his reserve and left the ring unsold.

Third prize was High Creoch Elite, a March 2007 bull, bred and exhibited by Messrs G & K Gilligan, High Creoch, Gatehouse of Fleet, he realised 1,000gns, writing this cheque Mr JRF Pattinson, Hott Bank, Bardon Mill, Hexham.

Hole of Lyne Holly, the only female in the sale, sold at 500gns to Mr & Mrs Hunt, Ellerton Grange, Southwaite, Carlisle.
