Whitebred Shorthorn Sale
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted the Spring sale
of Whitebred Shorthorn Bulls and females on behalf of members
of the Whitebred Shorthorn Association on Friday
1st March 2002, this being the first Pedigree Sale at Borderway since
the resumption of live selling after the Foot and Mouth outbreak.
In the rostrum making his debut selling Whitebreds Auctioneer
John Wharton.
Out of a catalogued entry of 13 bulls
only 9 bulls were forward with some of the remainder being
caught up in the 20-day rule restrictions.

- Parton Powerpack |
The judge, Association Chairman John Christie, Lochdochart,
Crianlarich. awarded the Championship to Parton Powerpack a
March 2000 bull bred and exhibited by Messrs Hewson, Parton
Farm, Wigton. Sired by Murtholm Premier this bull went on to
secure a bid of 2,000gns. From Messrs Kennedy-Moffat, Lochmailing,
Auldgirth, Dumfries.
The Reserve Championship was awarded to
Kale Moondust a May 2000 bull bred and exhibited by W & J
Thomson, Hownam Grange, Morebattle, Kelso, sired
by Warcar Wizzard this bull went on to realise
the top price of the day of 3,100gns, writing this
cheque Messrs A. Murray & Sons, Sewingshields, Haydon Bridge,
Hexham.
Messrs Hewson also exhibited Park William a May 1999
bull bred by the late W & AD Forrester, The Park, Bewcastle
securing a first rosette for the senior class this bull sold
at 1,200gns to Messrs Beaty, Long Green Head, Troutbeck, Windermere.
